Dear BPC Community,
After lengthy and thoughtful consideration, we regret to announce that we will not be moving forward with the covered courts pavilion at Whatcom Community College.
Despite our best efforts, the findings of the feasibility study made it clear that the infrastructure costs are significantly higher than anticipated, and the overall project cost is beyond what the BPC can support.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who dedicated time and energy to exploring this opportunity, especially the Covered Courts committee who worked tirelessly on this initiative for several years and Claude Blackburn who had the initial vision and committed to a substantial donation to fund the project.
While we know this news is disappointing, we deeply appreciate the community’s enthusiasm and support. Our commitment to expanding access to covered courts remains strong. We will continue seeking viable solutions and exploring new possibilities to serve our community’s needs.
